Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the rector of Atatürk University, issued a message on the occasion of Victory Day on August 30. In his message, Rector Çomaklı made the following statements:
30 Augustis the name of a great victory that occurred at the end of years of homeland defense, survival determination, and an impossible war of independence.

It is the life, blood, wealth, and intensity of a nation's struggle, as well as a raging victory.

The 30th of August is the name of the victory gained by thousands of martyrs and veterans, by the last bullet, every destroyed minaret, the sherbet of martyrdom, every woman who pulls the cart with her body, and every body of water whose hue changes with blood.

We commemorate all martyrs, veterans and all those who gave their best in the name of full independence, especially the Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms, who entrusted us with the pride of this great victory, with respect, gratitude and mercy, for leaving a homeland that will "eternally stand".
