ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE EVALUATION REPORT RELEASED

Atatürk University 2021 Academic Performance Evaluation and Academic Staff Performance Scores report has been released. The report covers the objective measurement and evaluation of the academic performance level of the academic staff working at the university within the scope of the determined procedures and principles.

Stating that the report will be instrumental in both seeing the current situation and identifying the aspects that need to be improved, Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı stated that he believes that the scientific and artistic works of the academic staff in the national and international arena will be very useful in order to identify their contributions to the development and recognition of our university and our country in the field of science, art and technology, and to evaluate them in accordance with the necessary criteria and to encourage them to be more successful.

Rector Çomaklı: “Mission of Contribution to Society Guides New Generation Universities”

Rector Çomaklı stated that the concept of 'New Generation', which expresses the new approach, design and performance that will replace the existing technologies in the field of technology, has started to define a great transformation need that has started in the field of higher education in the world for a long time, and said: "In addition to the education and research duties of universities, It is foreseen that the new generation universities will be shaped within the framework of their mission to contribute to society, whether it is the definition of a third generation university that focuses on university-society cooperation centered innovation or the definition of a fourth generation university that prioritizes regional development. Based on this universal foresight, Atatürk University has been carrying out the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project since February 4, 2018, in order to transform knowledge into value and improve research performance. Within the scope of the project, 19 search conferences were held, 230 visionary people from outside the university and 926 visionary people from within the university were invited to these conferences, and a Holistic Meta-System was designed that blends education, research and social contribution mission areas with a common mind. This design has been implemented, and supported by short, medium and long-term action plans. The holistic meta-system approach, designed to create a multiplier effect in higher education, aims to eliminate the inconsistencies experienced in transforming knowledge into value and improving research performance. For this purpose, Atatürk University has designed the following three systems and put them into practice gradually as of January 1, 2021.

The performance management system is one of the most important tools of the meta-system designed by Atatürk University. This evaluation report presents the implementation steps and results of the performance management system. With the said application, a new era has started at Atatürk University, and the period of decision-making based on performance and data has begun.”

Scoring and Calculations Made Considering the Criteria

Scoring and calculations for the Academic Performance Evaluation were completed by considering the Academic Performance Evaluation Directive and Academic Performance Evaluation Implementation Procedures and Principles published by Atatürk University. Academic Performance Regulation, Supervision and Objection Commission acted in accordance with the Academic Performance Evaluation Directive document. In order to speed up the process in other cases, additional meetings were held in addition to the meetings organized in accordance with the schedule determined by Atatürk University in order to respond instantly to the requests from both the faculty members and the department review commissions. In addition, with the online communication system established among the commission members, an environment was created where the comments and contributions of the committee members could be received on the problems and questions asked.

It is aimed to provide the same standard in all units

Each of the members of the Academic Performance Regulation, Supervision and Objection Commission, which consists of 46 members, is held responsible for the relevant faculties, colleges and institutes of Atatürk University; The problems identified by the said members were brought to the commission and each problem was examined in detail in the commission. Thus, it was tried to ensure the same standards in all units. In addition, the Academic Performance Score was calculated with the help of the Academic Performance Evaluation Process Management System (APSİS) used by Atatürk University. Academic performance evaluation; It was carried out in 7 layers in accordance with the New Generation University concept at the level of academic staff, department, unit and institution. The scores of each lecturer were examined one by one through this software, and the detected deficiencies and errors were conveyed directly to the relevant lecturer together with the decisions taken by the commission with the help of this software. The objections of the instructors within the specified calendar were made with the help of this software, and the deficiencies were completed and the relevant corrections were made.
