CHILDREN UNDER STATE PROTECTION HAVE FUN AT THE HORSE FARM
Atatürk University has added a new one to the projects it carries out within the scope of university-society integration studies. In this context, an event for children under state protection was organized by the Social Services Department of the Open Education Faculty and the Erzurum Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services.
In the event organized by the Open Education Faculty for children under the responsibility of the Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services, 43 children between the ages of 12-18, 20 of whom are foreign nationals, came together in a horse riding activity.
They had the Thrill of Horseback Riding for the First Time
In the activity at Atatürk University Technical Sciences Vocational School Hippotherapy and Equestrian Facility (manege area), children separated according to age groups had fun by riding ponies and normal horses.
Some of the children who could not go out frequently due to Covid-19 measures during the pandemic period, while experiencing the excitement of horse riding for the first time, thanked everyone who contributed to the organisationof this event.
Stating that as the Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services, they organize various activities in order to contribute to the psychological, spiritual and social development of children, Provincial Director Cemil İlbaş added that children have a special interest and love for horses and that this organization is beneficial for children.
Emotional Moments were Experienced in the Event
Drawing attention to the fact that education at Atatürk University is not only done with pencil and paper, Dean of the Open Education Faculty Prof. Dr. Erdem Kocadağıstan emphsized rector Çomaklı's vision of social responsibility developed with such organizations.
Prof. Dr. Kocadağıstan said: “Provincial Directorate of Social Services is one of our project partners. For this, we wanted to do an activity with our children. We organized this organization to contribute to the education and psychology of our children, who are under the responsibility of the whole society. We had emotional moments when we saw the happiness in their eyes. From now on, we will continue to carry out such projects with all members of our university."
After the event, some gifts were given to the little guests by the Open Education Faculty.
