CELEBRATIONS OF THE ERZURUM CONGRESS'S 105TH ANNIVERSARY

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, Rector of Atatürk University, was present at the 105th Erzurum Congress.

Beginning with the wreath-giving ceremony by the poolside for Atatürk's bust, the festivities included participation from the city's bureaucracy, political, military, and judicial authorities as well as a large number of civilians. Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, Rector of Atatürk University, was also present at the event. After that, there was a march to the building housing the conference. The program then went on with other events before coming to a finish with the congress building's representative assembly.

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı underlined the historical significance of the Erzurum Congress in his assessment of the day's significance: "Erzurum Congress is one of the turning points in our nation's struggle for independence and freedom." We take great delight in being here on this significant day, which is its 105th anniversary. With appreciation and reverence, we honour Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his fellow fighters."

Rector Çomaklı continued his speech by saying that Erzurum, the place where the independence movement began, is the cornerstone of the national struggle and that they will always be proud to have hosted such a significant congress. "It is our duty to protect this historical heritage and pass it on to future generations," he said. Our institution will keep up its innovative role in science and education to contribute to the bright future of our nation."

Exhibitions, seminars, and other creative events were arranged as part of the program to explain the background and significance of the Erzurum Congress, and student and folkloric teams' performances were well-received. In order to preserve this significant historical memory and celebrate the 105th anniversary of the Erzurum Congress, the participants took a group portrait at the end of the day.
