CONDEMNATION

The historicity and nature of the 1915 events are too serious to change according to the political strategies of politicians or their domestic political considerations. In addition to serving the rude distortion of history, this attitude of the President of the United States, Biden, aims to polarize the Turkish and Armenian peoples, who have lived under the same cultural roof for centuries, and who have made a sincere effort to completely heal their pains and wounds of the past and to build their common future together. It also aims to destroy the friendship established by making it difficult to ensure peace and stability.

That Events of 1915, of which a fair memory has been created through documentation with countless papers in light of scientific facts, and the relocation decision taken by the Ottomans completely for their safety, and of which the controversial nature is clearly expressed by the European Court of Human Rights is referred to as genocide is a political attack to our country and nation.

The USA does not have the authority to judge neither morally nor legally in historical matters. For this reason, the explanation made using the word "genocide" by the U.S president Biden which he borrowed from other imperial powers, which is also an indicator of their own political inconsistencies and distortion is null and void in the eyes of Turkish Republic. The Republic of Turkey never avoiding confronting her bright and glorious history is not going to take lessons from neither America nor any other nation.

This unfortunate statement of the United States, which distorts historical facts and is based entirely on political interests, will never be accepted in the conscience of the Turkish people, and will inflict deep wounds that are hard to heal and shake our mutual trust and friendship.

We strongly condemn the explanation the so-called "genocide" by U.S president, which we consider that it has the intention to satisfy some political circles and  to keep under constant pressure of Turkey's foreign policy. We invite America to correct this grave mistake and to support Turkey in her efforts to build up the practice of living in peace together in the region, especially between Turks and Armenians, instead of serving the agenda of circles which try to take hostility out of history.
